RSPCA Cornwall Branch – Donation Drive
West Country Pets Supports RSPCA Cornwall Branch with November Donation Drive
There’s something wonderfully uplifting about watching a pet’s transformation: from uncertainty and fear to curiosity and joy. At West Country Pets, our “pets before profits” philosophy drives everything we do — and this November, we’re honoured to join hands with RSPCA Cornwall Branch (RCB) to deliver something really meaningful for the animals in their care.
Bringing Christmas Joy & Enrichment to Cornwall’s Rescue Animals
About RSPCA Cornwall Branch – Rescuing, Rehabilitating, Rehoming
Located at the Venton Animal Centre in St Columb, RCB is a local, independent, self-funded branch of the RSPCA network. They rely entirely on local donations to keep their doors open, supporting animals across Cornwall with rehabilitation, and adoption services. RSPCA Cornwall Branch+1
Their mission is not just about giving a roof and bowl of food — it’s about offering every animal the second chance they deserve. That means veterinary care, behavioural assessment, training and enrichment programmes to help them feel safe, confident and ready for their forever homes.
In the past year, RSPCA Cornwall Branch has re-homed over 415 pets — a remarkable feat, and a testament to the hard work of their staff, volunteers and the community that surrounds them. This is why our donation drive exists: to help ensure RCB has the tools, resources and products that make rehabilitation truly effective.
Why Enrichment Matters for Rescue Animals
When an animal arrives at a rescue centre, they often carry the baggage of illness, neglect, fear or boredom. Enrichment is not a luxury: it’s vital. It helps, and here’s how:
-
Mental stimulation: puzzles, treat toys and activity feeders engage thinking and reduce anxiety.
-
Promote healthy behaviour: giving animals productive outlets stops them developing destructive habits or becoming stressed.
-
Encourage physical activity: especially for energetic breeds, letting them leap, chase, scratch or chew appropriately is key (like Bengal)
-
Build confidence: when animals explore, play and engage in safe ways, they begin to trust again.
-
Improve adoptability: a well-stimulated, comfortable animal settles more easily in a new home — which means success for rescue and adopter alike.
RCB’s adoption application process emphasises this: they ask prospective adopters “What would you do with your animal in terms of exercise and enrichment?” service.sheltermanager.com It shows just how central enrichment is to their welfare model.
How West Country Pets is Helping & Why Your Support Matters
From 1st–30th November, we are dedicating our stores and online platform to supporting RCB’s donation drive. Here’s how you can get involved — and why it really matters:
In-store
Look for shelf labels identifying the RCB Wish List items. You’ll see printed lists and posters dotted around so you can pick something perfect for the rescue animals.
Online
Visit our website westcountrypets.co.uk and browse the RCB Wish-List category. We’re offering no postage cost on items donated via this listing — so everything you pick goes directly to the animals, not shipping.
Loyalty Points
If you’re a loyalty scheme member you can donate your points to RCB. Not a member ? Ask in-store — we’ll apply the equivalent points on your behalf.
JustGiving & Collection Pots
We’ve got a dedicated JustGiving page (scan the QR in store) and collection pots at each till. Every penny, point or purchase helps.
Your support means RCB can purchase enrichment items, treat-filling toys, sturdy beds, scratching posts for cats, chew items for dogs, calming sprays for nervous pets and more — everything that aids rehabilitation and well-being.
Top Products We Love & Recommend
Here are some brilliant items you’ll find on our site or can ask for in-store. They tie directly into what RCB needs:
These are just some of the many items we can direct toward RCB’s enrichment needs. By donating or purchasing from our Wish List, you’re directly supporting the mental and physical wellbeing of the rescue animals.
Celebrating Success & Looking Ahead
Our previous charity events — the community dog show and our mountain-climb fundraiser for Donkey Haven Sanctuary — were fantastic. They showed just how powerful collective kindness can be.
Now, with this dedicated annual drive for RCB, we’re thrilled to focus on one big cause each year — ensuring our efforts are meaningful, memorable and deeply impactful.
We love animals. We believe in giving them the best start, the best second chance, the best home. At West Country Pets, your pet’s wellbeing is our business — and your generosity shows that rescue animals matter just as much.

In Closing
This Christmas, let’s give more than presents — let’s give possibilities. Possibilities for play, for freedom, for comfort, for second chances. Let’s ensure that not only do animals find homes, but they also experience joy, stimulation and contentment when they get there.
